Welcome to a blog that touches on a little of everything cultural ~ architecture, art, design, public spaces and community, literature and, of course, libraries and the part they play in all of it. You might even find a book review, interesting findings and the sorts of things that librarians unearth — which is a lot.
It started out as a student project for a MLIS course in social networking and software at UWO’s Faculty of Information and Media Studies and was the protype for a faux initiative of the Cambridge libraries and galleries to provide links to resources, ideas, news, and research for the creative community of their region and beyond. Its goal was to provide a resource and platform that encouraged a dynamic exchange between school and community educators, architects, designers, artists, curators, computer technologists and anyone within the design world and to foster ways in which they can create, collaborate, share and be informed.
Physically, this library is situated in a public square that intersects with a school of architecture, art centres and galleries, school art programs and surrounded by rich evidence of a strong cultural heritage. Online it and any library can intersect within a global context and can provide access and tools to resources that will meet the needs of their unique community and partner with other institutions by sharing what they have.
